The industry has changed exposure is achieved by selling your self ,using all types of media available to brand yourself ,especially social media, social media plays a major role in branding musicians. Artists like Chief keef kept on recording until executives saw their music videos on YouTube. South African rappers need to imitate international rappers and come up with their own sound, swag and gimmick.

WOrd Mr Nyathi, SA artists need to take advantage of social media as their marketing tool, it worked for Psy, Justin Bieber and many more artists, if it worked for them, and why not?
ReplyDeleteTrue Mr .they just need more exposure
DeleteSA artiss do use the social media to band hemselves but followrs of hiphop they are saying that south africa hip hop is nt good like the overseas one. how are they gone grow if the south african dont support them.
ReplyDeleteThe people want to support a brand not something that looks like a brand ,they need to establish themselves and do good music . SA rappers need to stop rapping about money because we all know they aint got money
ReplyDeleteHiphop is an universal language and it is very sad for those rappers who rap in vernack(Zulu,Tswana, xhosa, and ETC just saying
ReplyDeleteBuilding your own brand and following what you loke doing shows the kind of person you are and it shows that you are dedicated in what you do and want to achieve it
ReplyDeleteTrue
DeleteMy favourate SA apper is AKA besides the fact that I love his PR/marketing campaign and online presence I love his music as well on my books AKA is raising the bar
ReplyDeleteYeah AKA is doing big but he's not verified on twitter while an unknown rapper called Gingerbread man is verified
DeleteMy favourite rapper is Rick Ross, because some of his verses are on point. Besides being rapper he has also become a brand himself, as he has become a well known public figure.
ReplyDeleteLOL HUh!!! SA rappers are still developing their sounds and there their lyrical content delivery
DeleteDefinitely Drake! SA artists are not marrketing their brands quiet. Again focusing on the issue of piracy
ReplyDeleteLOL Drake is dope but SA rappers are also going to rise like a phoenix once their brands are well known
DeleteI think SA artists need to work very hard to market themselves and that should also include creativity.
ReplyDeleteInternational rappers know their thing shame and our South African rappers should learn so much from them.
